Cross connecting nodes

Where the fibre cables of the network meet and intersect; there is a cross connecting node. It is a space where many hundreds - sometimes thousands - of optical fibres inside a fibre cable are reconnected and continue on in another fibre cable.

Stokab's cross connecting nodes are the basis for our service to you

Stokab's approximately 600 cross-connections enable us to change the direction of a fiber cable and also enables us to quickly and easily switch the fibre network in the event of a disruption.

But the cross-connections also mean that, based on a new need for you as a customer, we can make a simple switch and switch you in almost any direction and reach a new destination. This type of cross-connect solution enables flexibility and redundancy for you as a customer.

Our fibre network is a so-called cross connecting metro network. We do not have a specific cable between A and B but use our cross connections to create the best and most efficient connection. Both from a security perspective but also to create flexibility.

This means that throughout the network there are locked manholes and cross connecting node areas where the fibre cables meet and where a connection can be reconnected into a new cable/new direction to reach its destination.

A secure space with maximum flexibility and redundancy

The cross connecting nodes enable redundancy, fast delivery times, flexibility when choosing a fibre route and excellent opportunities for rerouting on sub-sections in the event of operational disruptions, for example. Our cable routes are carefully documented and give you as a customer a unique opportunity to design the fibre route the way you want it, and at the same time have the opportunity to easily change in the future.

The cross connecting node is the hub for securing fibre delivery to you in our network.
