The biggest impact regarding energy consumption is electricity and cooling for technical spaces. We continue to work actively to find new energy efficiency improvements.

Improve energy efficiency

Stokab is included in the City’s energy procurement scheme, which complies with the Swedish Competition Authority’s procurement criteria for “Electricity from renewable energy sources – advanced level”. All electricity consumption shall be from electricity generated 100% from renewable energy sources and shall also meet requirements such as the Good Environmental Choice (Bra Miljöval) standard.

 

Operating the fibre-optic infrastructure, including network nodes where customers host their equipment, requires energy. Due to the high utilisation of network nodes, Stokab’s indirect electricity consumption is gradually increasing. However, while Stokab’s electricity consumption is increasing, it can be assumed that customers’ electricity consumption is decreasing, as their equipment is located in network nodes where energy use has been optimised.
